It is not proven that whether it is the oldest oolong cultivar in Wuyi as they say, but it is certainly one that is not the easiest to cultivate and to produce from. Finding a farmer to process it to the taste profile that befits its legend and our quality demand has been a challenge. It took us 15 years. Presenting Tea Hong’s Iron Buddha Supreme, with that complex charcoal finish yet sweet floral aroma, stout yet lingering “rock tea” taste, delivered gently in a well-balanced infusion in a civilised way. This could very well be the only traditional style Wuyi that any connoisseur would fall in love with.

Alishan Guanyin, deep baked Taiwan oolong

Over a century of development since transplanting to Taiwan, tieguanyin produced in the emerald island is quite different from its cousin in Mainland China. The most common way to group different varieties of tea is by the category of processing method with which they are produced. Some call it Tea Classification, others Tea Categorisation. We think the later label is semantically more accurate.

A very limited batch produced in the mecca of xiao zhong gungfu black tea, Tongmuguan, this finely processed leaves of Meizhan is precious not because it is rare, but because it is so demanding to produce to this quality. Wasn’t impressed with 2012 version
I truly expected more from this yancha after trying your fabulous Sacred Lily. I feel like the mineral rock taste of this one is a bit lacking compared to Sacred Lily. Perhaps it’s because the roast here seems to me a little overdone as the leaves struggle to open up even when using 99c water, high pour with yixing teapot.

Indeed, sometimes we want a fragrant tea, sometimes a fruity one, yet some other times things that are a little deeper. There are teas that easily appeal to most people and there are teas that only some will understand. When I was young I could not bear the taste of bitter gourd, but some time somewhere in my adulthood, I suddenly found the taste of bitter gourd amazing. They say it is only after one has learned the bittersweet nature of life that one can appreciate bitter gourd. I think it is the understanding of taste itself.

Wow, what a lovely and thoroughly enjoyable Tieguanyin. It’s very high quality with a humble price tag – if you want a daily drinker that feels more like a luxurious treat, this may be the perfect option for you. One could easily pay twice as much from a different vendor and receive something half the quality as this.
This tea is very balanced, it has an excellent mouthfeel and smooth floral qualities that do not feel overly “green” or “raw” at their core, like so many other Tieguanyin do. The aftertaste sits very nicely in the back of the throat and lingers for a while, as all good Tieguanyin should.
Oddly enough, I enjoy looking at the leaves after they are brewed. You can tell this is the authentic cultivar, plucked and processed with respect for a craft that brought this oolong into the center stage of a global spotlight.
Tea Hong’s traditional-style Tieguanyin captures the essence of what makes this oolong one of the most sought-after teas in the world, and at a price point that is simply unbeatable.

Good whole day tea
This is very good whole day tea for me. Put some in my very tall mug with tea leaves container to steep for 5 minutes. Drink 5 times or 6 times each day. Very good taste and good smell. I like it very much.
