Harvested only once a year in summer and after the young leaves are bitten by a kind of tiny leafhopper, genuine Dongfang Meiren can attain its special taste profile only after following the oolong processing routine modified especially for this tea. Tea Hong’s Phong-hong tè — the original name of Oriental Beauty — is a prime selection from the origin in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Overshadowed by the more promoted Red Cloak, Iron Buddha ( Tiě Luohan ) is actually as taste-worthy, if not more, than any of the so-called “famous” Wuyi oolongs. It is not proven that whether it is the oldest oolong cultivar in Wuyi as they say, but it is certainly one that is not the easiest to cultivate and to produce from. Finding a farmer to process it to the taste profile that befits its legend and our quality demand has been a challenge. It took us 15 years. Presenting Tea Hong’s Iron Buddha Supreme, with that complex charcoal finish yet sweet floral aroma, stout yet lingering “rock tea” taste, delivered gently in a well-balanced infusion in a civilised way. This could very well be the only traditional style Wuyi that any connoisseur would fall in love with.

The most common way to group different varieties of tea is by the category of processing method with which they are produced. Some call it Tea Classification, others Tea Categorisation. We think the later label is semantically more accurate.

A very limited batch produced in the mecca of xiao zhong gungfu black tea, Tongmuguan, this finely processed leaves of Meizhan is precious not because it is rare, but because it is so demanding to produce to this quality. It is not every year that we can achieve a gem like this.

Shiguping Wulong, rare Phoenix oolong
It is a great pat on the back for me to read from an experienced tea drinker telling the unique quality of this very special wulong. Without enough exposure to premium teas and an experienced palate, it would be impossible to write such comment. When someone who really knows about tea appreciates my offering, it is the highest reward for my work. I cannot find words to tell how happy I am.
To me, finding this tea is a revelation. I present it here in the hope that more serious tea drinkers could share the same joy when I discovered what the real thing is behind the humble name of this Phoenix oolong.

Lively, vibrant and mellow at the same time.
This tea is packed with fruity notes which hit my sense even on smelling the dry leaves just before the brew and continues to amaze me to the very end of the session. The flavors went on like a giant ball of fruits and nectar to roll down to my throat and soothes my deeper breath, so soothing that it’s “Yun” can revoke my pleasant experience with good ripe fruits.
It’s force is like dumping myself in warm and sweet memories just like sweet nectar.Truly special.

Here is how you put on the handle
Here is how you can get the handle hooked into the pot:
1. Click one end of the hook into one of the handle holes
2. Press the end of the handle that is already in the hole with one or two fingers quite firmly and the rest of your palm pressing on the body of the pot
3. Using your other hand, direct the other end of the handle to the other hole; it would seem too short now
4. Hold the handle by the open end firmly, leaving the hook open and aligning the open hole
5. Pull the handle wide enough to let the hook reach the hole; click into it and releaseThe design makes use of the springy character of this steel to simplify the profile of the shape of the pot.

Luan Guapian Supreme, traditional green tea
Beautiful tea
I don’t have a lot of experience with different kinds of tea, but this one is so different that I want to write about it here. It has a fullest, roundest body and silkiest texture I have ever experienced with tea. I have not expected tea to be like that before and I totally love it!
