    Gongfu Infusion Celadon Teapot:

Some teas manifest better in quick short infusions, some not. 5 minutes, 7 minutes or some even 8 — many green and black teas simply shine when they are steeped in a small leaf to water ratio and for a long time. A shallow vessel does not do the job well. A tall one with a thicker wall does. Like this Ming Yao Long Brew Maker. Complete with an efficient spout and a built-in strainer. From Ming Tao in Fujian. Bringing out quality takes patience. Give the tea enough infusion.

    Tea-for-one: White Ruyao

    , , ,

The advantage of a shallow infusion vessel is to have the tealeaves laid in a flat layer so hot water comes into contact with them quite evenly and instantly. This allows for a higher leaf to water ratio and much shorter infusion time. This is what this Tea-for-One is designed for.

Ruyao was an imperial appointed kiln over a millennium ago during the prosperous time of Song Dynasty, famous for the cracked effect in the glaze. Zhang's studio recreates the visual signature with this modern matt appearance.

    Tea-for-one: Quail Egg

    , , ,

Zhang is not an artist. He is a craftsman. His team of people have hands that can turn a lump of clay into pots and cups with precision and in no time, almost like magic. They make tea vessels for us for practical use, in understated design. Coming from a humble tea tradition, that is only natural for them. They are from Chaozhou, where gongfu tea is more normal than cola.

"Quail Egg" Tea-for-one is light yet sturdy and strong. The matt glaze finish matches with the non-glazed cup rim and pot bottom to complete both the visual and tactile rustic theme of the design. Comes with cushioned wooden box for travelling or as a gift.

    Ash-glaze Yixing Shooters

If porcelain seems too light in your hand, perhaps these Yixing teabowls would give the weight your infusion should feel. Whereas most chinaware are faithful in carrying the infusion, these cups enhances smoothness and accents. Do the same for warm sake and other rice wines.
