Summit of Chang Keng
While Tea Hong’s Tieguanyin Traditional is a softer, sweeter style of the bead-rolled oolong, Tieguanyin Stout from the summit of Chang Keng, although from the same strand of cultivar, yields a much more robust taste profile. Local people say that is due to the soil and higher mineral content of the underground water. Considering the location is only about one hour away from where Tieguanyin Traditional is produced within the same county, it is quite amazing. Maybe it is also due to the slightly different style of processing, we guess. We are happy to have found it at this pristine quality after all, so as to offer to you an alternative style of this most well-known Fujian oolong.

長坑頭採、清香觀音
Tea Hong’s Tieguanyin Stout is an alternative to the very popular Tieguanyin Traditional, although both are in the bouquet style. It is especially suitable for tea lovers who want to use gongfu infusion or other shorter infusion method but not quite successful with the Traditional option. Bouquet style Tieguanyin, after all, is the de facto selection for trying the tea brewing approach for many beginning to learn about tea.
Taste profile
Warm, buttery, and floral aroma of herbaceous overtone. Accents of new growth leaves. Clean, brisk infusion of floral sweetness in velvety texture. Light herbaceous bites on sides of tongue. Sweet aftertaste.
Infusion tips
For Gongfu style, begin with 7 g of tealeaves to 100 ml of water. 95°C infusion temperature for 30 seconds. Adjust these variables for a strength you prefer. Always blanch the leaves before the initial infusion.
For larger teapots using conventional style, 1.5 g of tealeaves to 100 ml of water, same temperature for 5 minutes. Adjust tealeaves amount or infusion time for strength. Also need to blanch the leaves.

White Peony Classic Long, traditional white tea
Tea, White teas, Minnan/ Mindong, Fujian, Lighter Aromas, Milder Tastes, Neutral-Cool EnergyZhenghe Mudan Wang
While White Peony from Fuding tastes more floral, that from the other earliest region, Zhenghe, tastes longer and deeper. The more tedious curing process is marked by the darker colors on the leaves. While many prize Silver Needle Supreme for its delicate taste and furry appearance, a superb traditional white tea as White Peony Classic Long delivers a more impressive taste experience. That may explain why this Mudan Wang, aka King of White Peony, is considered the best and most classical representation from the origin, and a favourite by many tea connoisseurs. As most aficionados prefer it, we have always matured this tea adequately before releasing it in the shop. The current stock is a single batch first flush ( i.e. pre-Qing-ming ) harvest from 2019.

Black Leaf Special, Phoenix dancong oolong
Home, Tea, Oolongs, Fenghuang ( Phoenix ), Floral Aromas, Fuller Bodies, Cool EnergyFenghuang Da Wuye:
If classic Phoenix oolongs are too sweet, and bouquet ones too florally aromatic for you, Tea Hong’s Black Leaf Special maybe your cup of tea. It is produced from a new cultivar developed for maltiness and complexity in taste. A very different oolong from the rest. Our special selection is harvested from higher altitudes near the oolong mecca that is Wudong.

Cream Stout, Wuyi yancha oolong
Home, Tea, Oolongs, Wuyi-shan, Floral Aromas, Fuller Bodies, Neutral EnergySilk Finish Aijiao Wulong:
No this is not the beer but 100% pure oolong. Wuyi classic oolongs in general distinguish themselves from other oolongs with a stout, rather immediate and powerful impact. Tea Hong’s Cream Stout differs from the crowd with a soft creamy finish and a light tone of cream that is developed naturally in the tealeaves themselves. This is possible only with a new pedigree of tea cultivar, Aijiao Wulong. We believe you’ll like the oolong much better than the beer, as we do.

Song Cultivar, Phoenix dancong oolong
Home, Tea, Oolongs, Fenghuang ( Phoenix ), Floral Aromas, Fuller Bodies, Cool EnergyHuangzhi Xiang Dancong:
Song pedigree tea cultivar Huangzhi Xiang distinguishes itself from others of the same name not only by its living ancestor that has been carbon-dated back to the 13th century (late Song), but also by the elegantly complex taste and aroma of the tea it yields. That is why it is the most revered of all Phoenix oolong in its own origin and at the nearby Gongfu Tea Capital of the World — Chaozhou.
