Tea-for-one: White Ruyao

The advantage of a shallow infusion vessel is to have the tealeaves laid in a flat layer so hot water comes into contact with them quite evenly and instantly. This allows for a higher leaf to water ratio and much shorter infusion time. This is what this Tea-for-One is designed for.

Ruyao was an imperial appointed kiln over a millennium ago during the prosperous time of Song Dynasty, famous for the cracked effect in the glaze. Zhang’s studio recreates the visual signature with this modern matt appearance.
