The People’s Black Tea:
It is said that the first Yunnan black tea was made here in Feng Qing. It is also the origin of the golden tippy tea that was presented as a national gift to Queen Elizabeth II when she first visited China in 1986. To us, what matters more is the pleasant, oatsy tea liquor with that distinct apple flavour and slight bite of citrus that you can drink all day, leaving the mouth feeling fresh and moist anytime in the subtlest way. This friendly taste profile is possible only with select first flush, non-blended leaves properly processed and baked optimally for balance of fragrance and dryness. Our staff says it is the people’s tea. Aptly named.

Taste profile
Nose: Fresh aroma like that of a forest after the rain yet warmed with an overtone of cereal cookies and touches of apple, cinnamon and light accents of chilly pepper. Palate: Refreshing, pleasantly direct infusion that can be sweet when at lighter strength, and malty and lightly citric when stronger. Finish: Accents of orange peel and light apple sweet aftertaste.
Infusion tips
This is a versatile black tea for enjoying plain or with condiments like lemon, brown sugar or with milk etc. If you like to make it stronger, use more leaves and relatively shorter time for extra body and roundness. Optimum infusion temperature 95°C.

Besides beautiful sceneries, it is also the origin for many a fine teas, such as Huangshan Maofeng. The tender young leaf shoot to make Tea Hong's Huangshan Maofeng Supreme is always plucked with one or two tiny immediate leaves before Spring Equinoix, and always before Qing Ming. Always from the few small family tea farms in the high mountains that we buy from. It is a rare quality even in the market in Huangshan, and if you ever found it, would be at a much higher price. Working directly with producers is a principal at Tea Hong. While offering quality at a reasonable price is one immediate benefit that you as a consumer can enjoy, there are more important reasons and not so immediate results that we aim at. The special taste profile of a classic Longjing demands not only a fine harvest from a genuine pedigree, but also the mastery of hand-roasting the leaves. To attain such a skill takes the willingness to endure years of hard practice*. On top of that, a fine Longjing is perhaps the most sought after tea in its native market that is China, and there are people there that are willing to pay thousands for half a kilo of this tea. As a result, good roasting masters are in high demand. A good master producing with top quality harvests is even more rare. To secure a genuinely high quality is therefore a very challenging task. April Mist, traditional green tea

For those who prefer a little more strength in their green tea, April Mist is a pleasant choice. Harvested from scattered wild tea bushes in late March or early April, depending on the conditions that year and pre Qing Ming nevertheless, in the misty days of the mountainous region for a deeper taste. Lightly roasted for a balance of warmth, aroma and refreshing brightness, this Yunwu (translate: cloud and mist) makes a distinct difference from its counterparts that may look similar.

Longjing First Flush, hand-roasted green tea

This is a more affordable version of the most sought after Chinese green tea. While some people are willing to pay thousands for a small pack of the earliest harvest in Spring, Tea Hong brings you what is authentic but slightly later in season, for similar enjoyment but much less in price. It is, nevertheless, still a first flush — some tea grows slower than others, dependent on the cultivar, horticulture and micro-climate.
