Taiping Houkui Traditional 2020
Brewed it in a Ball jar
Not as glamorous as using a gaiwan, but when I saw the ice-fire instructions, a Ball jar seemed to be a good choice for these tall tea shards in a vessel that would not crack with heat fluctuation. Strained it into a tall pitcher using a gold tea filter. I can definitely taste the apricot and grass tones. Just lovely.Karen Ager
Silver Moon Himalayas 2016
unforgettable ‘bright’ aftertaste
I’ve tried many black oolong teas from Nepal , Darjeeling and many Oriental Beauties from Taiwan. This one is right at the top. Unique bright colourful fruity aftertaste. This tea also has surprised me by its silky and smooth mouthfeel.
Brewing parameters: 1.5 g in 70 ml gaiwan, using 85c temp. 6 steeps without a rinse: 60s/60s/90s/120s/180sBarak Dallal
Keemun Traditional Supreme 2020
Tea Master’s Pick
Opening a package of Keemun Traditional Supreme will transport you into a library full of fine leather-bound books. The infusion will yield a glossy, mahogany liquor tasting of figs, almond blossoms, and sanded timber. One can easily imagine a sea captain bringing this tea across the ocean to his titled patrons, reserving some first for his own personal use. The taste of Keemun Traditional Supreme stays reminiscently on your palate long after the drinking is done with just enough caffeine to set your sails to the wind.Karen Ager
Excellent fresh “clouds and mist” green tea
Tianshan April Mist (“Wild Bush Yunwu”): This is a green tea of the yunwu (“clouds and mist”) type. The pictures show a tea with vividly deep green leaves, twisted into small curls. Since it is a yunwu type and the description uses words like strong, bright, and sharp, it grabbed my attention immediately. Leo says that this tea is, “for those who prefer strength in their green tea rather than soft, rounder tastes.” That sounds like me, so this was the tea that I anticipated the most. I was surprised when I opened the container – the smell is very fresh and pungent, but not in a bad way. In fact, the dry leaves have a stronger smell than any other green teas I have had. The infusion is a lively light green, and gives a brisk but full-bodied, fresh, and flavorful taste. It really brings those bright “green tea” qualities to the foreground. I am really fascinated by this tea, which has such an unassuming appearance. Since trying this tea for the first time, it has become my “go to” green tea. As a bonus, its status as a “clouds and mist” green tea makes me feel like I’m drinking tea with Taoist hermits deep in the mountains. 😉pancakes
Alishan Guanyin 2018
Like return to old days
This guanyin like I drank with father when I was a boy. Sweet memories total recalled. I search east and I search west, until I found this. Very delicious good tasteAi Han Ngau
Silver Curls 2019
Nice balanced Chinese green tea
Silver Curls Spring has an appearance of light green and silver curls. The description states that this is a more mellow green tea with a slightly sweet aftertaste. I think that description is accurate. In many ways this tea reminds me of some other green teas I have had, but a finer quality, and the appearance is nice. It shows the careful work put into making the tea. Like Tianshan April Mist, this is also a quite refreshing tea, but due to its balance and poise, rather than its strength and brightness. The aftertaste is a little soft and sweet. The taste is a little reminiscent of a softer and cooler Longjing. This strikes me as an excellent overall representative of a refined and classic Chinese green tea. On a personal note, it is also the type of tea that I would enjoy on a daily basis.pancakes
