  • GABA Orange Extra, de-oxygenised oxidation Taiwan oolong

What a refreshing point you have made! Making tea using a longer duration rather than those popular practice of a few seconds. When I first experienced old style gongfu tea-making in Chaozhou decades ago, this old man moved very fast with his equipment and water, talked fast too (I hardly made out 50% of what he said ), yet he sat there patiently while waiting for tea to brew in his small teapot. I still remember the sensation of the full-flavoured liquor to this day. By the way, the upcoming batch of GABA is going to be a lot more wonderful than this one. — Leo Kwan

  • Black Leaf Special, Phoenix dancong oolong

    Pleasant Tea

Dry leaf has chocolate, minty aroma. Flavor is smooth with hints of dried fruit as well as in the aroma. Not particularly sweet. A bit on the thin side as far as the body goes, but is pleasant with good huigan and a wet mouthfeel. A gaiwan proved beneficial in bringing out more of the fruit. An easy drinker.

  • Honey Orchid Supreme, classic Phoenix dancong oolong

Your review is like a poem! Thank you for sharing your experience with us and so very, very happy that you like one of my personal most favourites. This is the very tea that totally converted me from my previous profession into advocacy for fine tea.

  • Cold Peak, matured Taiwan oolong

    Very Well Done

Often, roasted teas will be overdone. This is not the case with this one. The tea produces a nice floral aroma with a mellow sweet flavor of fruits and some nuttiness. The mouth stays wet and reveals a good body to the tea. Some huigan and mouth activity. Seems to strengthen after a few brews. Long lasting. A very solid tea that holds up repeatedly.

  • White Peony Classic Long, traditional white tea

    Zhenghe White Peony King

I have had Bai Mudan and Shou Mei white teas, but never a Zhenghe Bai Mudan (always the more common Fuding variety). I was very interested in this Zhenghe style, since the description seemed to fit my preferences more than the Fuding. Opening the package, the aroma is rich and full, kind of like hay, and sweet (a little difficult to describe). The overall appearance is a nice mix of silver, gray, and withered green. The taste is indeed full, deep, rich, and a little sweet, without the floral qualities. It also seems to bring out more of that taste that makes white tea distinctive as a style. This is the best white tea that I have had.
