  • Himalayan Finest Flowery, orthodox black tea

    Holiday Worthy

With hands wrapped around a warming cup of Himalayan Finest Flowery, my thoughts turn to the approaching winter festivities. The tea’s distinctive aroma would mingle nicely with the scent of a balsam wreath hanging nearby. In addition to its woodsy notes, Himalayan Finest Flowery has a silky mouthfeel with hints of rosewater, kumquat and freshly grated nutmeg. Stomp the snow off your boots and come sit by the fire while I pour you some. Would you like a warm gingerbread man to go with it?

  • Wudong Cassia, Phoenix dancong oolong

    Beautiful amber color

I get great satisfaction comparing the dry bark-like strands to the plump infused leaves that grow and expand, coming alive in the gaiwan. For an American who is used to powder in a tea bag, this is quite an epiphany. I can never go back to tea bags now. Tea Hong has spoiled me forever. The fragrant taste on the upper palate and into the nasal area is a religious experience.

  • Longjing Traditional Supreme, hand-roasted green tea

Hello Mrs Ngo, normally we inspect our pre-Qingming green teas around early to mid April but need quality assurance processes for another two weeks. So likely to be late April the earliest. Will send mass newsletter to all registered customers when available.

  • Honey Orchid Supreme, classic Phoenix dancong oolong

Your review is like a poem! Thank you for sharing your experience with us and so very, very happy that you like one of my personal most favourites. This is the very tea that totally converted me from my previous profession into advocacy for fine tea.

  • Honey Orchid, Phoenix dancong oolong

Now I understand a bit about tea maturity

I have heard about it but this is the first tea that has made me experience the interesting thing about tea maturity. I bought the first pack in 2012 because I had read about Leo’s name in a tea merchant’s catalogue here in Switzerland. It was great taste and good value, but when I opened a second pack that I bought last month, the aroma of the leaves instantly tell me it had already become something else. The sweetness was less obvious but much deeper with a prominent ‘woodsy’ tone. The infusion much deeper and mellow and the taste longer. There is something dancing on the taste buds that I don’t think I can write even in German. Maybe it is music in tea taste.

I am just so disappointed that it is sold out now. I hope the new stock will mature to the same wonders!

  • Wudong Cassia, Phoenix dancong oolong

There! Indeed you do know about Phoenix oolongs. In the “medicine” aroma group of Fenghuang Dancong, there are also Jiang Mu Xiang and Xing Ren Xiang. Another customer, N.N., who also commented on this tea has mentioned Jiang Mu Xiang, which I was incidentally enjoying a private batch this morning with my wife, but have not decided yet whether to carry it. The same dilemma as I have previously mentioned, whether to offer it at a quality level that I truly enjoy as a tea lover, or making more commercial sense to maintain a sustainable profit. As for Xing Ren Xiang, you have already given your fantastic comments in the Orchid Gratus page in a review last year. And I thank you again.
