  • Alishan Guanyin, deep baked Taiwan oolong

    Ask Yourself

When seeking evenness of mind and a better disposition, ask yourself which tea might help you face the day with strength and calm. No tea may be more suited to the task than Alishan Guanyin.

Nine grams of this beaded beauty produce a liquor the color of an orange-amber sunrise. The vessel lid offers the smell of warm vanilla and a refined perfume of iris, oak moss and cedar wood – a scent worthy of dabbing onto the skin.

This tea whispers balance; its gentle steam patiently waiting to be inhaled. Ask, and Alishan will deliver perfectly even doses of quiet insight to both nostrils. A fresh morning breeze wafts over with subtle, smoldering hints of a distant bonfire.

Next is a fleeting mouthful of sweet summer peaches dissolving into a slightly smoky, spicy-clean aftertaste balanced on the tip of the tongue, mid-palate and throat.

Notice the transformation of the tiny, toasty tadpoles as they make a magical metamorphosis in your mug. They swell into wild, squiggly creatures of dark slate green. Balance gives way to spontaneity as these friendly, appealing leaf-beings inspire your free spirit. If you don’t believe me, ask them yourself.

  • Keemun Traditional Supreme, old style black tea

    Tea Master’s Pick

Opening a package of Keemun Traditional Supreme will transport you into a library full of fine leather-bound books. The infusion will yield a glossy, mahogany liquor tasting of figs, almond blossoms, and sanded timber. One can easily imagine a sea captain bringing this tea across the ocean to his titled patrons, reserving some first for his own personal use. The taste of Keemun Traditional Supreme stays reminiscently on your palate long after the drinking is done with just enough caffeine to set your sails to the wind.

  • Honey Orchid Supreme, classic Phoenix dancong oolong

    Deep tea

I am not able to make such good writing to describe this wonderful oolong, but I have to share this : this tea is even more wonderful when brew for a long time! 4 friends came for dinner yesterday but I was out of tea. I have only a tablespoonful of this tea in the bag. I knew I cannot make kung fu style because there were total 7 people too many small for serving like that. So I put all the tealeaves in a big teapot and brew for 8 minutes! I hoped it will be strong enough to taste because so few leaves. It was the most wonderful cup of tea I ever have. All people said same thing. I am so happy to discover this

  • Tieguanyin Floral, bouquet oolong

An excellent floral-style Jin Guanyin that maintains its balance and does not lean too heavily into the “green” qualities that seem to dominate the market in modern times.

This is a very easy-going daily-drinker that provides sweet fruity undertones, reminiscent of peaches and osmanthus, coupled with floral aromatics and a mellow body that mingle together perfectly to create a consistent and enjoyable cup, from first sip to aftertaste.

It resists turning bitter or sharp & herbaceous in the cup, even when brewed Western-style for a long time. The price to quality ratio is outstanding, and makes this the perfect entry-point for somebody looking to explore the wonderful world of oolong.

  • Menghai Spring 2004, Pu’er shu cha

    A fine Shu

Whether in the gaiwan or a common earthenware tea pot, this shu infuses dark and flavorful, sweet and inviting with no astringency to speak of. Re-infuses well even at 1g to 100ml ratio. Goes smoothly with savory meals and is very attractive on its own.

  • Cream of Pu’er 2015, naturally formed shu cha tea nuggets

    Smooth and sweet

Some other shu pu-erh may be smooth and sweet too, but this one also has richer taste than others I had before. My favourite pu-erh now it becomes.
