3 very nice teapots and matching teacups

Hello reader,

First, please let me report a very good new: we have setup with a wholesale working relationship with a very good Tokoname artisan ware representative. In Japan, where things do not necessarily behave in our understanding of normal business routines, this is a huge advance for us.

However, it will still be quite many months before we can offer beautiful handmade kyūsu teapots and chawans from this renowned origin. The processes of detail research, selection, curating, and product preparation take a lot of time, and you know I am picky. So at least months, but it’s good news anyway, isn’t it?

Meanwhile, we do have a few fine teapots and cups at accessible prices new on our lineup. Hope you will enjoy using them. Like everything else, they have passed our requirements for infusion effects and heightened drinking experience with very good marks.

Winter sale is on

Many of you who have deeper tea experience understand that we offer top quality at great value. To us, that means not only a lot of work in coordinating with a large number of direct suppliers spread out geographically, but also a very tight profit margin. A discount has deep impact on us. That is why we have never offered a storewide sale at 15% off.

Recently, however, although our wholesale business is growing, there have been two things that seriously affect our cashflow:
  1. The suspension of all or part of our online sales — the much longer than estimated lead time for the relocation, and then shortly after that, the chaos at the US border for the removal of the de minimis policy, the tariff drama, and the uncoordinated increased paperworks requirements.
  2. Since we have always buy directly from producers, so we always pay them at the time of harvest — the increased wholesale volume means a larger cashflow gap.
All these happening at a time when we have not even recovered from the relocation expenses yet.

The best we can do is to cut the price in the hope to sell more. Cashflow is more important than profit margin at this moment.

So do take advantage of this very rare occasion and stock up for your holidays and winter months.

Have fun shopping,
Leo Kwan
