Hong Kong Post was hacked!
And you maybe be affected

Hello reader,

This update concerns a security issue. If you have purchased from us before July 7, 2024, please be alerted.

Before we have relocated to Japan, we used to send online orders from Hong Kong. Hong Kong Post was our major service provider. If you have bought from us before the last day of our operation in Hong Kong on July 7, 2024, it is likely that you had received your order through your local post who works with their counterpart in Hong Kong — Hong Kong Post.

A few hours ago, we got news that the official website of Hong Kong Post had been hacked and user’s address books could have been accessed. They said they stopped the hacking the soonest they could, but they had not been clear about how many accounts’ address books had been compromised.

This incident implies that your contact details: your address, email address, and phone number may have been stolen by this hacker.

Please be aware of the possibility, however slight this maybe, that the hacker may use Tea Hong’s name to contact you through your phone or email. Please understand that if we are contacting you through email, we always use our official email addresses with the suffix @teahong.com (i.e. our domain) and not anything else. We do not contact you through phone message, Whatsapp, or any other message apps that is phone number base. Nor will we call your phone number.

There has been an upsurge of spammer crimes in recent years. Although it is unclear what the motivation for this hacking is, it is better for everyone to stay alert.

I am terribly sorry that this possible leak happened and your details maybe involved.

Let’s all stay vigilant to prevent crimes that feed those criminals. Let’s make this a better world.

Yours truly,
Leo Kwan
