A Wuyi Reborn in Taiwan & a white tea oxidised without oxygen
|
|
As Taiwan deals with the traumatic aftermaths of that recent 7.2 magnitude earthquake, there seems nothing much we can do to help other than paying attention to the news. However, as tea lovers, let’s continue to appreciate the tasteful teas that Taiwan’s tea farmers have so devotedly made beautiful. Maybe that’s a good way to show support.

Introducing two special teas from Taiwan, North Peak and GABA Bouquet. Although not certified, both are produced organically by small family farms.

North Peak is from the Tsai family farm that has a 1100m altitude on Bei Shan (i.e. North Peak) in the centre of the Taiwan island. Although the cultivar employed is a Wuyi Shuixian, it is so localised that the tea has a much softer profile, so much so that we think the plant has adapted to the gentler culture of Taiwan itself. It is also a tea that is great for gongfu sessions as well as for cold infusion. We offer some tips on the product page.

GABA Bouquet is a unique white tea invented by Mr Yu who also produces our GABA Orange Extra. He has been experimenting with the process for some years before coming up with this outstanding batch. It has a pleasing and delicious bouquet not found in any other white tea, and it has the benefits of a GABA tea. If our other Taiwan white tea, Hong Yu Deep White, is a little too strong for you, this GABA Bouquet offers a much milder profile with a full body and delightful aroma.

My team and myself are all very fond of these two new additions to our collection so both have been elected for the recommendations of Staff Pick, Tea Master’s Choice and Great Value — all three. They are really good.

I hope you will like them too. As to when the other sold out Taiwan teas will be refilled, we are waiting for answers too.

Let’s continue to send our well wishes to the people of Taiwan.
