New Harvests, new label design, &
Hiccups with DHL for USA
|

There have been a few inquiries for when we will release the new harvest for Japanese green tea. The fact is, Uji began to harvest only a few days ago. We shall be seeing samples of the first roll out of our appointed varieties a week later. Processing and finishing take time.

Two weeks ago when we were there in a Mie tea field, farmers were only beginning to cover tea bushes for shaded growth (kabuse — かぶせ) for the desired leaf quality for the making of tancha and gyokuro. Tancha is the material for grinding into matcha. Two weeks is the minimum amount of time for such shaded growth. Better ones, which we are after, takes another 2 to 3 weeks, depending on the cultivar and the terroir.

They have been in cold storage for taste and quality maintenance, but we are putting a 15% discount on them anyway. For those who understand that a green tea sometimes is better when the coldness in TCM nature is toned down with time, they are likely to be the best value you can get anywhere.

New label design
You will begin to receive orders with some of the products having a new label design. We are in the process of gradually replacing the existing label design, which has been in use since our online shop began operation in 2012. For more about this, please read it in our new post:

Temporary DHL suspended for USA
Last week, we have experienced a few cases where DHL could not deliver orders to addresses in the USA as before. We have now suspended this delivery option for the country. We shall install an option for FedEx and hopefully smooth out the issue with DHL. This will probably take at least a few days. Meanwhile, please use the airmail option, which has been performing without issues.

DHL service for all other destinations remains unchanged.

Please accept our apologies if this arrangement causes you any inconvenience. Let's hope the issue will be resolved very soon.

As for us, we do still steal time for a good cup of tea a few times a day. Life is too short to be distracted by all such unhappy incidences and humdrums.
