Mogake Maru, a ball shape chachū

Although Master Fujita was born in Fukuoka, he has made Tokoname his home early on in his career and his classic pieces demonstrate a unique Tokoname firing technique: 藻掛け — mogake — where seaweeds are tied to the bisque before entering the kiln, creating a unique pattern after firing. His choice of various local clays is diversified and all demonstrate good visual and infusion effects.

This is a handmade item. Each individual piece delivered may have slight variations in colour, pattern, shape and details from the particular one used in these pictures.
