Wu Yong Jun
Born to a grass-root family in Yixing that had been doing supportive jobs for the clay industry in the mid 70’s towards the end of Cultural Revolution, Wu Yong Jun witnessed the rapid growth of the economy and saw the encouraging recovery of the teapot trade. An introvert and lacking better connections compared to some of his counterparts, he did not even have the chance to go to any of the local art and technical colleges. The young man began by running errands for different workshops and studios, and practicing the craft late into the nights.
The tiny bit of economic freedom for selling his works has allowed the young Wu to begin using better clay for upgrading his work’s material quality, while his diligence and attentiveness to details allowed him more supportive tasks to work closer to more established artisans and clay ore workshops. In the 2010’s he began submitting works to local and national exhibitions and competitions, and, surprisingly won enough recognition for him to later submit for national qualification evaluation.
Wu’s story is a refreshing and an hopeful sparkle in a depressing culture where guanxi (relationship) is paramount for success, a middle age nobody who lacks the background or the appearance appeal can climb up the social ladder with shear hard work and diligence.
We are happy to present a few pieces of Wu’s recent works at the very affordable price he is known for.

Yixing Teapots, An Introduction | Tea Guardian
We try our best to represent the colours of all tea accessories, including Yixing teapots in the product photographs. However, there are many factors that we cannot control, including those that affect how the photos are rendered in your computer or mobile device. There maybe interpreted discrepancies between the colour as seen on this site and that of the product you receive.
