  • Luan Guapian Supreme, traditional green tea

I find it amazing that you, as such a committed oolong drinker, could adapt to the entirely different sensory dimension of an ancient style green tea to give an account of such detailed taste experience. Amongst all our green tea selections, Luan Guapian and Bamboo Leaf are two most “untamed” style of tea. Particularly for people who grew up in a culture of teabags, tea mixes or bottled tea, as I dare to point out cultural-incorrectedly, these teas can be nakedly too real in their embodiment of the raw tea-ness ( more so even than pu’er maocha in many ways ). Yet your words describe so intricately its wonders the same of which have convinced me to include them in my repertoire. I hope more could have the same open-mindedness in the epicurean sphere of tea. Maybe it will then be a much more peaceful world.

  • Alishan Guanyin, deep baked Taiwan oolong

If I had to pick only one roasted oolong to drink for the rest of my life, this would be it. Its qualities are ethereal and timeless. It has depth, nuance, well-defined layers of flavor, a fantastic texture, and lingering sensations coupled with a sweet and smooth aftertaste… and it’s incredibly easy to brew.

One of the reviewers below stated that this guanyin reminds him of what he drank with his father when he was a young boy. When you can drink a tea and it brings you back to your childhood, you know it’s special.

Even in the modern day, this Alishan Guanyin is a refreshing (and welcome) pivot away from the green and floral-style oolongs that seem to dominate the market. Not that there’s anything wrong with them, in fact there are quite a few offered by Tea Hong that are exquisite, it’s just that there’s something really special about a properly fired and deeply-baked oolong.

This really hugs the heart and embraces the soul. It doesn’t matter if this will be your first-ever loose leaf tea, or you’re a seasoned pro who knows all the famous mountains – you should definitely try this oolong.

  • Eight Immortals Wudong, Phoenix dancong oolong

    Best Baxian

This is the best baxian I have ever tried regardless of price. I have searched around HK and Chaozhou to say that!!!!

  • Danhu Old Bush Song Cultivar, Phoenix dancong oolong

A Mona Lisa of dancongs! I like that analogy. This is refreshing to read after quite a bit of time being unable to read and reply to user comments. Thank you!

  • Huangshan Maofeng Supreme, traditional green tea

    My daily tea

A friend had been helping me to contact a company in China for my supplies of green and white tea, including Huangshan Maofeng. After a few orders from Tea Hong, I now have no need for his help. This outstanding green tea is the best I have had. It is great whether in a big teapot or in my infuser mug.

  • Dianhong Classic, traditional black tea

    Complex and Unusual

Acquired tastes can be perplexing or intriguing, depending on your viewpoint. Count me as intrigued after sampling a pre-release packet of Dianhong Classic. The dry tea leaves have a strangely pleasant aroma of roasted cashews and aged cheddar. When infused, the scent transforms into something altogether different, vaguely akin to the fragrant flower, Freesia. Drinking this tea gives yet a third impression, the hardest of all to describe. To my western palate, it’s like stepping onto the moon – uncharted territory and taste adventure combined. Is it blood orange or river stone? Bittersweet or crystalline? I cannot describe this unusual, slowly unfolding taste. Thank you for the opportunity to sample one of the teas from your new line. For me, Dianhong Classic is a riddle that may never be solved.
