  • Shèmen Dancong Double Baked, Phoenix dancong oolong

    Tea Hong never disappoints.
One of the best Oolongs I ever had, this Shèmen Dancong Double Baked has a rich peach note, both in the aroma and the taste. Try to experiment with short AND longer infusions, both will bring you different, but very rich and complex results.
It’s an unique tea and isn’t comparable to other Oolongs in my honest opinion as these peach, mandarin notes change their complexity and aroma over the course of the infusions. You won’t regret buying it.

  • Honey Orchid Supreme, classic Phoenix dancong oolong

This tea is a mountain range of flavors, with distinct peaks all seamlessly integrated into a harmonious and nuanced experience that carries all of the depth you would expect of authentic old tree Mi Lan. The aroma coming off the dry leaf is vibrant and complex, hinting at the marvelous experience that awaits the drinker. I knew this was going to be an incredible experience before I even turned my kettle on.

This one opens up with bright and sweet notes of sun-dried fruits, and a tropical dankness that is reminiscent of mango, guava, peaches, lychee, passionfruit, with a kind of electrical zing to it that reminds me of fresh-cut pineapples. These bright and tangy notes electrify the roof of the mouth and nostrils as they work their way up from the back of the throat.

In every sip, this is a juicy and fruit-forward Mi Lan that is perfectly overlaid on top of a powerful and textured body, which has a woodsy quality to it that reminds me of walking through an old-growth forest on a hot, sunny day.

You can’t miss the cong wei – it’s apparent and focused across the full session; even the washed-up leaves retain that woodsy-spicy-sweet fragrance that is just so attractive because of how well it sits in contrast against the insanely sweet and pungent notes of tropical fruits.

The mouthfeel and texture are incredible – for having such powerful and distinct peaks of flavor, the body is very deep, the edges are very soft, and the individual notes integrate very well with each other, creating a very complex experience in every facet of the tea. The initial sip, the evolution of flavors on the palate, the lingering sweetness, all tell a cohesive story and that story is the life of healthy, old Mi Lan Xiang trees.

The finish is elegant and the sweet aftertaste lingers for a long time, but what I appreciate most about this tea is how deep it sinks into every cell of my body, and how graceful the qi is. This is a tea that stays with me all day.

    What a phenomenal experience.

  • Yao Ling Xiang: Stone Ladle

A superb collector’s item, made with the best craftsmanship, and zisha material. An amazing teapot of such high quality and it is up to par with Teahong’s level. It truly impresses the connoisseur, and I am very happy i acquired it. The zi-ni is so well refined, and the shape/body is very well rounded and proportionate. I’m so happy Teahong is offering such high quality teapots. These teapots are the real deal, and Teahong makes it astoundingly convenient to buy such teapots on an online platform, rather than flying to China for teapots this quality.

  • Taiping Houkui Premium, green tea of shidaye cultivar

    A great tea to show

This is also my first time with Taiping Houkui. The leaves look so beautiful before, during and after infusion. I used Leo’s “ice-fire” technique in a small party including my girl friend. They are all so excited to see it. Since a few years ago because a Japanese green tea made her sick, Keiko does not drink green tea. This time she was drinking it and like the taste. It is a unique taste that is not like the warmer Longjing or Huangshan Maofeng, but not sencha either. I cannot describe it.

  • Eight Immortals Wudong, Phoenix dancong oolong

It is great comfort to read from a user who can so explicitly understand the rarity and value of this selection. It does take ample exposure to what’s available in the market, consistent brewing skills, as well as the talents of a sensitive palate to write this comment here. My deepest appreciation.

  • Orchid Gratus, Phoenix dancong oolong

    Fascinating, yet comfort.
While the aroma is highly suggestive for dried fruits, woods, and spices like forest honey. The liquor is surprisingly luscious with notes of butter then gradually reveals the iconic cooked apple character which lingers in the deeper sensation. It makes the impression of hard-boiled spiced apple candy, dense aroma and mouthfeel with comfort sensation .
As a self-proclaimed devotee for Xingren Xiang Dancong, this Orchid Gratus is the best representation of the traditional craft and pinnacle quality. If anyone is into the classic Phoenix oolongs I will definitely introduce this tea to him.
