Traditional beauty with a strong following of the National Treasure Master
Born in Showa Year 25 (1950), Fugetsu Murakoshi has apprenticed under the National Treasure Master Tsuneyama Yamada III 人間国宝 山田常山三世. That is perhaps why one can trace the aesthetics and functionality design of his works closely linked with the Yamada tradition.
This piece is produced with a very fine red clay is fired with dramatic change in temperature in the process but with a steady environment control to achieve this even darkness, and beautiful surface finish, making it resembling the look of a Yixing zisha pot. Notice how the senior artisan has left the brims of different parts staying red as the original clay.
