This particular example of Luan Guapian is notably sweeter and less bitter than other versions that you might find from different vendors. It’s textured and nuanced where others are flat, thin, and lack depth of flavor.
Initially, this tea opens up with some notes of lightly roasted sunflower seeds and steamed spinach. It’s got a thick and creamy body, reminiscent of cashew butter, and as the flavor profile evolves on the palate it becomes sweeter and develops some intricate fruity and floral notes. The mouthfeel is complex and vibrant all the way through, from the initial sip to the last remaining sensations in the aftertaste.
I also enjoy the cha qi – it’s soothing and calming in the body, but apparent and focused in the mind, which makes it a good tea to drink before meditation, both in the morning and evening. Show Less

Particularly for people who grew up in a culture of teabags, tea mixes or bottled tea, as I dare to point out cultural-incorrectedly, these teas can be nakedly too real in their embodiment of the raw tea-ness ( more so even than pu'er maocha in many ways ). Yet your words describe so intricately its wonders the same of which have convinced me to include them in my repertoire. ral notes that are characteristic of Fuding, and none of the sharp green herbaceous notes that seem too prevalent nowadays. The broth of this Zhenghe Mudan Wang is much thicker across the palate, it’s full and sweet with an aftertaste reminiscent of lightly fermented apricot jam. There is some good umami here, with undertones of whipped honey and heavy cream with caramel that become stronger as the soup cools. This is the type of white tea I would brew up hot during the night time, and let it cool overnight so I could drink it first thing in the morning.
I am a Fenghuang fanatic, so to me the flavor profile of this white tea isn’t super complex, but it’s deeply satisfying and comforting. I find myself reaching for this tea late in the evening, when I want to drink something that doesn’t stimulate me too much but hits the spot for my tea-drinking soul. The kind of stimulation I get from this tea is one that is very calming and focused, even if that focus is on winding down for the evening before bedtime. It maintains a consistently elegant flavor profile no matter how you brew it or how you drink it.
I love the dynamic nature of this Mi Lan, it responds very well to being brewed up in the gong-fu style, but I actually prefer to brew this Western-style because you can see the full breadth and depth of flavors this tea has to offer in every sip.
