Packing in our workshop
The short answer: NO.
De Minimis
Orders below USD 800 from Japan to the USA are classified as De Minimis by the US Customs and are not subject to tariffs even after April 9th, when the new tariff rules are in effect. Since most online orders are below that amount, so there really is no worry about this new policy.
Empirically, we have found that orders sent through the Post have a much lesser chance for scrutiny at the Customs recently, so maybe opting for that service at check out would reduce the rare risk of the package being retained at the border and causing delay.
Orders above USD 800
If, however, you want to get a higher ticket item, such as one of our Yixing teapots, FedEx will work with us to process the needed tariff. Please select that delivery option at checkout.
If we haven’t yet update the item tax charge to make it happen at check out, we shall bill you separately to pay the US Customs if needed, so you don’t have to go through it yourself. The order will be delivered to you as normal, and you do not have to worry about it at all.
For outside of USA
As for orders for other destinations, everything remains the same. No disturbances.
Wholesale clients in USA
The current import tariff situation seems to be still changing, and we shall work with you to find ways to reduce the impact on your costs. Please do communicate with us as early as possible when you need to restock.

BTW, to all wholesale clients
New harvests are happening and we have already been stocking rare quality batches. Please share your needs soon so we can stock enough for your share. You know how easy it is for us to sell out on a tea.
