Increasing the surface area for more “breathability” of the teapot
Born in 1950 in the very town of Tokoname, Murata sansei entered the trade in the old fashioned way, as an apprentice. Throughout his fruitful career, he has maintained close connection and exchange with counterparts in traditional key ceramic areas in China. That is why you can see a stronger technical discipline in his modern looking pieces. Like his Yixing counterparts, he builds his teapots with a much thicker wall than most other Japanese artisans do theirs. This particular item is a solid representation of his works in his signature surface cuts.
This is a handmade item. Each individual piece delivered may have slight variations in colour, pattern, shape and details from the particular one used in these pictures. Please note also that because of the unique and tiny surface crystalisation of this item, the colours rendered in the photos under the photo lights maybe slightly different when under a different lighting environment.
