All our premium green teas and green style oolongs have been stored between -8 to 7°C before shipping, dependent on the particular variety. This is to maintain freshness upon which taste integrity is dependent.
Other teas at between 22~28°C for non-interference for their maturity, again dependent on the variety.
How the tea is treated before packing for storage and the quality of packing itself are integral elements in the overall quality management for our tea. Unlike prepacked products in larger shops or old style teashops, we have devised our own storage quality workflow and environment to best maintain and maximize tea quality before the pack you buy is put into the shipping carton. Fine tea is a very unique product and needs to be treated according to its specific nature.
Always store your tea with the containing package well fastened to avoid air slipping in. Put it in a cool, dry place away from strong light.
In case you have purchased our premium green tea or green style oolongs and would not use it for some time, store it in the refrigerator until you are ready to open and consume it. Better yet, let the package sit in room temperature for at least 2 hours before opening. Finish any open package within 4 weeks of opening. Do not put an open pack back in the fridge again.
If you want to stock up some packs for maturity, it is best not to open the packs. If you have done so, refrain from contact with moisture, your breath and the skin. With the exception of compressed teas, open packs are to be completely sealed for airtightness before storage for maturity.

Huangshan (translate: Yellow Mountain) is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and a China national conservation. Besides beautiful sceneries, it is also the origin for many a fine teas, such as Huangshan Maofeng. The tender young leaf shoot to make Tea Hong's Huangshan Maofeng Supreme is always plucked with one or two tiny immediate leaves before Spring Equinoix, and always before Qing Ming. Always from the few small family tea farms in the high mountains that we buy from. It is a rare quality even in the market in Huangshan, and if you ever found it, would be at a much higher price. Unlike other green teas that are prized for plucking early in Spring, leaves of Da Guazi need to be quite grown and spread in order to make a fine Luan Guapian. This gives the proper biochemistry that yields enough pectin for the tea's signature velvety texture and unique bitter character. This is possible only with a special local cultivar — Da Guazi — Big Melon Seed, hence the funny name. Some say it takes enough experience in life for a person to appreciate the bitterness in a food or drink. If a green tea is judged only by how umami it is, a lower grade than Tea Hong’s Anji Baipian* may already top the chart. The grace of this top quality of one of the most sought after name in green teas is not measured only by its savouriness, but its silky smooth and soft body and elegance in its taste character. Perhaps that is why the small county of Anji is never producing enough to satisfy the demand from the growing affluent class in China. This is a more affordable version of the most sought after Chinese green tea. In the realm of green tea, if those from India are too rough and astringent, or Japanese ones too seaweedy, maybe Chinese is the way to go. For those who prefer a little more strength in their green tea, April Mist is a pleasant choice. Harvested from scattered wild tea bushes in late March or early April, depending on the conditions that year and pre Qing Ming nevertheless, in the misty days of the mountainous region for a deeper taste. Lightly roasted for a balance of warmth, aroma and refreshing brightness, this Yunwu (translate: cloud and mist) makes a distinct difference from its counterparts that may look similar.

Big White, Phoenix dancong oolong

Produced using a Phoenix native cultivar Da Baiye ( i.e. Big White Leaf ), and has certain taste similarity as the rarer Song Cultivar Huangzhi Xiang, this tea is popular amongst traders for use as a substitute for the pricier label. Tea Hong’s top quality selection, Big White is certainly a good demonstration of how this tea can fool the lesser experienced connoisseurs.
