A flat design, thick material chachū teapot

Born in 1950 in the very town of Tokoname, Murata sansei entered the trade in the old fashioned way, as an apprentice. Throughout his fruitful career, he has maintained close connection and exchange with counterparts in traditional key ceramic areas in China. That is why you can see a stronger technical discipline in his modern looking pieces. This particular item is a solid representation of his works.

Clearly a work of art and a labor of love. It's flat, wide, and dense enough to hold heat well, but light enough to handle without feeling clunky. This kyusu brews gyokuro like you would not believe. Yoshiki Murata is a very well-respected artist, and I am grateful I was able to acquire one of his works at such a competitive price.
