  • Taiping Houkui Traditional, green tea of shidaye cultivar

Brewed it in a Ball jar

Not as glamorous as using a gaiwan, but when I saw the ice-fire instructions, a Ball jar seemed to be a good choice for these tall tea shards in a vessel that would not crack with heat fluctuation. Strained it into a tall pitcher using a gold tea filter. I can definitely taste the apricot and grass tones. Just lovely.

  • Snow Orchid, bouquet Phoenix dancong oolong

    Aptly named

I imagine if one picks a lovely, rare orchid out of the snow, this tea exactly mirrors that taste. Exotic florals finished by the sensation of a cool breeze circulating your olfactory system. Uplifting.

  • Red Jade, Taiwan TTES#18 black tea

Again, glad you have enjoyed this tea. It is indeed one of my favourite black teas and not too many people have even heard about it. For your high sensitivity in taste, if you venture into the arena of a longer steep you will find even more wonders in this gem of Taiwan.

  • Huangshan Maofeng Classic, traditional green tea

    lively taste

I did not notice this tea until last week so I ordered it for this seemed a better value alternative than the “spring equinox” version. I got it today and have been drinking it whole day. Not tired of it at all! Surprising good and refreshing and lively taste for the price. Good companion when you have to sit at the desk all day for piles of numbers to go through like me 🙁

  • Phoenix Classic, dancong oolong

Glad that you like it. Phoenix Classic really is a good choice for many different occasions!

  • Yiwu Large Leaf 2013, partially post-fermented Pu’er shengcha

Very strong Qi, flavours are dark profiled but complex. Not the thickest tea but still thick enough to be enjoyable! Good everyday sort of tea! Dark enough to be enjoyed late at night, and very easy on the stomach.
