Consistently impress every time Tea Hong is one of my favorite tea vendors for several reasons. First, and most importantly, their tea is wonderful. I truly have not had a single tea from Tea Hong that I didn't enjoy, and every tea I have tried from them has been of very high quality. I am primarily an oolong drinker (though I've been exploring aged pu'erh recently) and they are one of the first, if not the first, vendors I go to when I am looking to get more Wuyi yancha, Phoenix dan cong, gaoshan, or hung shui. The Wuyi yancha I have tried from them has been some of the best I've tried thus far, ESPECIALLY in that price range. I seriously, the Cassia Extraordinaire is probably the best yancha I have tried from anywhere, and costed less than some of the other "premium" quality yancha sold elsewhere. And of course there's their Phoenix dan cong. The dan cong I have tried from them is always interesting and complex, and a delight to drink. Their Honey Orchid Supreme (Mi Lan Xiang) was very good: fruity, floral, long aftertaste, complex, longevity, everything one looks for in a good quality dan cong. Aside from the quality of their tea, Tea Hong's customer service is great too. Every time I email them, even when it's just to chat or ask basic questions, I get a response quickly. They don't mind sharing their opinion on things, and they don't mind speaking frankly and truthfully about their teas. So yeah, I am very happy that Tea Hong is around. There's a ton of tea vendors that have some great teas, but there are few that have an entire selection of great teas and can consistently impress every time I order. They will certainly remain on the top of my list for as long as I drink tea 🙂 Looking forward to my next order.

Convenient way of bringing the tea dream to Canada An amazing teashop! The reason I'm skeptical of online tea shops is because of quality and you cannot taste the teas beforehand. But I have gained a unique trust with the vendor, and figured what lines are more suitable for me. Might I recommend the Phoenix line and puer line. The price beats all and the shipping and customer service is exceptional. I cannot wait for more high quality gems this year from teahong. The only thing is how they sell out to fast, and minor bugs for the site bit nevertheless phenomenal for online quality. *Side note: I haven't learned from a tea master as great as Leo before, his knowledge is amazing and his insight about the market is outstanding. May I commend him on his work as I know this is a smaller part of his latter career. I have learned things that no amount of my shenzhen tea friends could've taught me. Very Well Done
Often, roasted teas will be overdone. This is not the case with this one. The tea produces a nice floral aroma with a mellow sweet flavor of fruits and some nuttiness. The mouth stays wet and reveals a good body to the tea. Some huigan and mouth activity. Seems to strengthen after a few brews. Long lasting. A very solid tea that holds up repeatedly.

This is quite a special gastronomic experience, the evolution of flavors is remarkably intricate and thoroughly enjoyable from the initial aroma of the dry leaf, all the way through to the last wafts of fragrance I can lift off the bottom of the final, empty cup. You found something unique here. I brewed up the sample using my new Rural Life gaiwan, using a 1:20 ratio, and then right afterwards I brewed it up again Western-style in a larger mug with a 1:100 ratio. Both methods returned some of the most enjoyable and satisfying cups of Himalayan tea I’ve ever had.
I first started exploring Himalayan teas approximately 10 years ago, but never really took a deep-dive, for the same reason that I never fully dove into pu’erh… because Fenghuang oolong captured me with its infinite beauty. That being said; just like with pu’erh, I’ve also been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to source amazing Himalayan teas directly from farmers and co-operatives who grow ultra-premium, top-notch tea. Moon Drops matches, if not exceeds, what I have come to expect from the absolute best of the Himalayan region.
I can taste the influence of both the Jinxuan and Yabukita cultivars. This is a special phenotype; this hybrid retains the thick creaminess and umami-heavy mouthfeel which both cultivars are prized for, and does so in a way that overlays the terroir of the Himalayas seamlessly, which gives rise to a unique yet familiar set of flavors that I’ve come to know and love from this region. I feel like this selection was specific and intentional…
The evolution of flavors in both of my sessions was very complex. Moon Drops opened up with some notes of squash blossoms, zucchini bread, and distinctly sweet overtones of muscat grapes, the likes of which even the most premium Darjeeling would be jealous of. It’s malty and starchy, in the best of ways. As the sessions progressed, there were some herbaceous & spicy notes that came out to play, which were reminiscent of white peppercorn and sage leaf with some floral, lavender-like qualities… oily, thick, lubricating, resinous and long-lasting on the palate, yet perfectly juxtaposed against delicate and nuanced flavors that should be impossible to achieve, but clearly aren’t. As I said earlier: wow. This tea brought forth a complex olfactory experience that escapes definition, and that is what I personally seek out.
Towards the end of the sessions, as my steep times became longer and the water temperature moved closer to a freshly rolling boil, I detected sweet and distinct notes of caramelized almonds that lingered on the palate for a long time before gradually subsiding. There was a distinct mouthfeel that was coupled to the flavor profile, which added another layer of enjoyment to the experience.
This truly is a complex tea in every facet… from the intense bright-gold color of the soup to the powerful and stimulating sensations that it imparts in the body, and everything in-between. I particularly enjoyed how clean, crisp, brisk and smooth this tea was… to say I thoroughly enjoyed it is an understatement. Thank you for all that you do to make tea like this possible to experience.

Although this may not be the best of all the Nepalese tea I have sampled, it comes in only second to the hand-rolled first flush Jade Moon from xx (Tea Hong: sorry we have to edit out the shop name), which is almost 3 times more expensive! The aroma, depth and complexity are all there, maybe only a touch less floral. I am happy to save the money for trying out more varieties.

Overshadowed by the more promoted Red Cloak, Iron Buddha ( Tiě Luohan ) is actually as taste-worthy, if not more, than any of the so-called “famous” Wuyi oolongs. It is not proven that whether it is the oldest oolong cultivar in Wuyi as they say, but it is certainly one that is not the easiest to cultivate and to produce from. Finding a farmer to process it to the taste profile that befits its legend and our quality demand has been a challenge. It took us 15 years. Presenting Tea Hong’s Iron Buddha Supreme, with that complex charcoal finish yet sweet floral aroma, stout yet lingering “rock tea” taste, delivered gently in a well-balanced infusion in a civilised way. This could very well be the only traditional style Wuyi that any connoisseur would fall in love with.

We have matured this special batch of tieguanyin for long enough before double baking it the traditional way in a bamboo basket with charcoal ash. Originated in the south, Qi Lan cultivars attain new characters growing in the more rugged landscape of Wuyi. Since late last century, traders have taken advantage of its distinctive and pleasing aroma to mislabel it as the much demanded, but hugely misrepresented Red Cloak, Iron Buddha, or other famous Wuyi oolongs. Some blend it in other varieties for the same disguise purpose. Tea Hong’s Qi Lan is a premium single batch production that is optimally fermented and baked to allow the full, glorious taste profile of the tea. Some say if one has not experienced Qi Lan, one will never know what Wuyi teas really are. We’d say this eccentric lily has its unique place in the great family of oolongs.

Besides beautiful sceneries, it is also the origin for many a fine teas, such as Huangshan Maofeng. The tender young leaf shoot to make Tea Hong's Huangshan Maofeng Supreme is always plucked with one or two tiny immediate leaves before Spring Equinoix, and always before Qing Ming. Always from the few small family tea farms in the high mountains that we buy from. It is a rare quality even in the market in Huangshan, and if you ever found it, would be at a much higher price. Working directly with producers is a principal at Tea Hong. Overshadowed by the more promoted Red Cloak, Iron Buddha ( Tiě Luohan ) is actually as taste-worthy, if not more, than any of the so-called “famous” Wuyi oolongs. It is not proven that whether it is the oldest oolong cultivar in Wuyi as they say, but it is certainly one that is not the easiest to cultivate and to produce from. Finding a farmer to process it to the taste profile that befits its legend and our quality demand has been a challenge. It took us 15 years. Some blend it in other varieties for the same disguise purpose. Tea Hong’s Qi Lan is a premium single batch production that is optimally fermented and baked to allow the full, glorious taste profile of the tea. Huangshan (translate: Yellow Mountain) is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and a China national conservation. Besides beautiful sceneries, it is also the origin for many a fine teas, such as Huangshan Maofeng. The tender young leaf shoot to make Tea Hong's Huangshan Maofeng Supreme is always plucked with one or two tiny immediate leaves before Spring Equinoix, and always before Qing Ming. Always from the few small family tea farms in the high mountains that we buy from. It is a rare quality even in the market in Huangshan, and if you ever found it, would be at a much higher price. Working directly with producers is a principal at Tea Hong. While offering quality at a reasonable price is one immediate benefit that you as a consumer can enjoy, there are more important reasons and not so immediate results that we aim at.
