Consistently impress every time Tea Hong is one of my favorite tea vendors for several reasons. First, and most importantly, their tea is wonderful. I truly have not had a single tea from Tea Hong that I didn't enjoy, and every tea I have tried from them has been of very high quality. I am primarily an oolong drinker (though I've been exploring aged pu'erh recently) and they are one of the first, if not the first, vendors I go to when I am looking to get more Wuyi yancha, Phoenix dan cong, gaoshan, or hung shui. The Wuyi yancha I have tried from them has been some of the best I've tried thus far, ESPECIALLY in that price range. I seriously, the Cassia Extraordinaire is probably the best yancha I have tried from anywhere, and costed less than some of the other "premium" quality yancha sold elsewhere. And of course there's their Phoenix dan cong. The dan cong I have tried from them is always interesting and complex, and a delight to drink. Their Honey Orchid Supreme (Mi Lan Xiang) was very good: fruity, floral, long aftertaste, complex, longevity, everything one looks for in a good quality dan cong. Aside from the quality of their tea, Tea Hong's customer service is great too. Every time I email them, even when it's just to chat or ask basic questions, I get a response quickly. They don't mind sharing their opinion on things, and they don't mind speaking frankly and truthfully about their teas. So yeah, I am very happy that Tea Hong is around. There's a ton of tea vendors that have some great teas, but there are few that have an entire selection of great teas and can consistently impress every time I order. Convenient way of bringing the tea dream to Canada An amazing teashop! The reason I'm skeptical of online tea shops is because of quality and you cannot taste the teas beforehand. But I have gained a unique trust with the vendor, and figured what lines are more suitable for me. Might I recommend the Phoenix line and puer line. The price beats all and the shipping and customer service is exceptional. I cannot wait for more high quality gems this year from teahong. The only thing is how they sell out to fast, and minor bugs for the site bit nevertheless phenomenal for online quality. *Side note: I haven't learned from a tea master as great as Leo before, his knowledge is amazing and his insight about the market is outstanding. May I commend him on his work as I know this is a smaller part of his latter career. I have learned things that no amount of my shenzhen tea friends could've taught me. Some of the best dancong you can get Some of the best dancong you can get your hands on abroad! Plus Siu (their customer service rep) is amazingly helpful and friendly. They offer regular sales to help make their high quality products within reach when you want to get yourself a treat, and their lower priced offers are still quite tasty! My only complaint is: stuff goes out of stock so quickly! I guess rare and precious things are very limited in quantity... but there are so many offerings I oogle and want to try someday when they are in stock.

I truly expected more from this yancha after trying your fabulous Sacred Lily. I feel like the mineral rock taste of this one is a bit lacking compared to Sacred Lily. Perhaps it’s because the roast here seems to me a little overdone as the leaves struggle to open up even when using 99c water, high pour with yixing teapot.

This is metaphysical-grade dan cong.
What an exquisite and remarkable experience; every aspect of this tea, from the aroma of the dry leaf to the last sensations felt on the palate in the aftertaste, are completely and entirely without flaw. The execution of every single step in the making of this dan cong exemplifies sheer mastery of a craft that is hundreds, if not thousands, of years in the making.
This tea is utterly perfect, it could not get any better. I would have an easier time explaining what is at the end of two mirrors placed opposite each other, than I would be describing just how flawless this dan cong is. Even the best of poets would struggle to capture the ineffable beauty of this tea… there are simply no words that could be strung together that would effectively capture the experience that awaits the drinker.
Not only is this the best Huangzhi Xiang I’ve ever had, it’s also the best dan cong I’ve ever had. It may seem expensive, but for what it is, it’s actually underpriced, and I just want to thank Tea Hong for making such an experience like this possible.
The cong wei is very direct and apparent, the cha qi is transcendental, and the flavor profile is deeper than the Marianna Trench. If you are looking for a metaphysical-grade experience, you will find it here.

Wudong Cassia, Phoenix dancong oolong
Much obliged for appreciating this tea. And a sincere thank you for such a wonderfully descriptive account of your experience. For me as a merchant, it was a difficult decision whether to offer this variety at the topmost quality or to offer a production that is ample enough to carry that “Fenghuang Cassia” cultivar signature but maintaining a lower price so that a stepping price range for different affordability can be maintained in the Phoenix line. There are already a few items in the collection that are top quality afterall. In the end I did both. For one, this batch really is exceptional, and the next quality down is simply far less mesmerising. It simply feels sinful not to share such a great harvest. So I made a not so wise decision. To carry this batch at an affordable price, I simply lower the profit margin. If this silly effort can make this lesser known variety appreciated by more, it is still worthwhile. True quality should prevail. Maybe this world can be a bit nicer when less dragged by pretence, falsehoods and mediocracies.

This tea is packed with fruity notes which hit my sense even on smelling the dry leaves just before the brew and continues to amaze me to the very end of the session. The flavors went on like a giant ball of fruits and nectar to roll down to my throat and soothes my deeper breath, so soothing that it’s “Yun” can revoke my pleasant experience with good ripe fruits.
It’s force is like dumping myself in warm and sweet memories just like sweet nectar.
Maturing of dark tea demand good scientific understanding of the process and experienced selection of initial batches. We have devised a special approach to deliver quality incomparable by others at even higher price points. Tea Hong’s Menghai Spring is prized for its dark liquor with a silkily smooth body but without being too soft. A classic representation of fine “shu cha” puer.

Overshadowed by the more promoted Red Cloak, Iron Buddha ( Tiě Luohan ) is actually as taste-worthy, if not more, than any of the so-called “famous” Wuyi oolongs. It is not proven that whether it is the oldest oolong cultivar in Wuyi as they say, but it is certainly one that is not the easiest to cultivate and to produce from. Finding a farmer to process it to the taste profile that befits its legend and our quality demand has been a challenge. It took us 15 years. Presenting Tea Hong’s Iron Buddha Supreme, with that complex charcoal finish yet sweet floral aroma, stout yet lingering “rock tea” taste, delivered gently in a well-balanced infusion in a civilised way. This could very well be the only traditional style Wuyi that any connoisseur would fall in love with.

We have matured this special batch of tieguanyin for long enough before double baking it the traditional way in a bamboo basket with charcoal ash. Originated in the south, Qi Lan cultivars attain new characters growing in the more rugged landscape of Wuyi. Since late last century, traders have taken advantage of its distinctive and pleasing aroma to mislabel it as the much demanded, but hugely misrepresented Red Cloak, Iron Buddha, or other famous Wuyi oolongs. Some blend it in other varieties for the same disguise purpose. Tea Hong’s Qi Lan is a premium single batch production that is optimally fermented and baked to allow the full, glorious taste profile of the tea. Some say if one has not experienced Qi Lan, one will never know what Wuyi teas really are. We’d say this eccentric lily has its unique place in the great family of oolongs.

Besides beautiful sceneries, it is also the origin for many a fine teas, such as Huangshan Maofeng. The tender young leaf shoot to make Tea Hong's Huangshan Maofeng Supreme is always plucked with one or two tiny immediate leaves before Spring Equinoix, and always before Qing Ming. Always from the few small family tea farms in the high mountains that we buy from. It is a rare quality even in the market in Huangshan, and if you ever found it, would be at a much higher price. Working directly with producers is a principal at Tea Hong. While offering quality at a reasonable price is one immediate benefit that you as a consumer can enjoy, there are more important reasons and not so immediate results that we aim at. Overshadowed by the more promoted Red Cloak, Iron Buddha ( Tiě Luohan ) is actually as taste-worthy, if not more, than any of the so-called “famous” Wuyi oolongs. It is not proven that whether it is the oldest oolong cultivar in Wuyi as they say, but it is certainly one that is not the easiest to cultivate and to produce from. Finding a farmer to process it to the taste profile that befits its legend and our quality demand has been a challenge. It took us 15 years. Some blend it in other varieties for the same disguise purpose. Always from the few small family tea farms in the high mountains that we buy from. It is a rare quality even in the market in Huangshan, and if you ever found it, would be at a much higher price. Working directly with producers is a principal at Tea Hong.
