  • Honey Orchid Supreme, classic Phoenix dancong oolong

Your review is like a poem! Thank you for sharing your experience with us and so very, very happy that you like one of my personal most favourites. This is the very tea that totally converted me from my previous profession into advocacy for fine tea.

  • Celeste Green Gaiwan

This quickly became my favorite Gaiwan.

The design is wonderful and reminds us to connect with nature. It is easy to decant due to the perfect shape of the lid.

The only wish I would have is for a slightly smaller version of the same design, maybe around 100ml for smaller gongfu sessions.

  • Tieguanyin Classic, deep baked oolong

    Karen Ager

We enjoyed this classic oolong with a spicy lunch today. The dry, bumpy nuggets are pungent and pleasant to look at. I used a black clay yixing gaiwan for this selection but didn’t detect much aroma after three shakes of the dry tea in the heated bowl. That all changed the very second the hot water hit it. This tea was generous in releasing its complex baked aroma. Very pleasant. The first steeping was a quick one. Lovely flavor on the front of the palate in into the nose. Earthy with a hint of black peppercorn yet mellow as the name implies. The second steeping I left sitting too long (or so I thought). It was strong but only in the most pleasant way. We did a few more steepings and the nuggets opened up into what look like rolling waves on a black ocean. The texture lets you know you are drinking a substantial tea. I don’t think this is the type of tea that can be steeped all day, though, as it gives off its flavor quickly. On the other hand, I will steep a few more infusions, let them sit longer, and see what surprises await. In my opinion this is a great tea to accompany meals.

  • Serene Water Pearl Tea, traditional green tea

This is a lovely green tea, it has a thick mouthfeel and brothy texture with a savory flavor profile that sinks deeply into the palate. The aftertaste is sweet and smooth, with a long-lasting freshness that reminds me of something between pine needles and rosemary leaves.

I get overtones of zucchini noodles and cereal grains, along with hints of steamed snow peas & green beans, but this tea also has herbal qualities that add an extra touch of complexity and keep things interesting from cup to cup.

The leaf quality is excellent – the dry leaves are wholesome and fuzzy, and as they gradually unfurl they release those tiny little hairs, which makes the resultant soup hazy. If you catch it at the right light, you’ll see all of the little hairs floating around and shimmering like microscopic flakes of gold.

This is a good, clean, and humbly priced daily drinker, one that is easy to brew up and even easier to enjoy.

  • White Peony Classic Floral

    A good tea in office

Though its taste is rather simple compared to my favourite oolong phoenix teas, this white peony is easy to brew with tea mug, my only teaware in the office. I think it is quite an economic choice that I have it nearly daily.

  • Himalayan Finest Flowery, orthodox black tea

    Spicy, Bold. Direct

Some teas are very subtle. Others are more bold. This is one of the latter types. The leaves have a spicy aroma that, like in the description conjure up memories of bergamot. The flavor is reminiscent of Breakfast style teas.

Infused in a pot, it makes a good companion tea when you don’t mind something strong. I don’t recommend leaving the leaves in the vessel (gaiwan, pot or mug) for longer than required, however, as this can overbrew and become very strong.
