Good news first
Japan Post has finally updated their service to be able to pay the different tariff according to the product for shipments to the US. We have now reactivated this shipment option. Its cost per your order will be displayed in the Cart and Checkout page alongside with other shipping options available for your shipping address.
For every harvest, all teas from our producers will have to go through repeated tasting before an approval. The infusion from the first round is almost always prepared under the international tasting standard fro tea tasting ISO 3103.
Not so good news now
It has been announced that there is a new set of tariffs on tea and tea ware entering the United States:
For teas
China origins: 7.5%
Japan, Taiwan, and Nepal origins: 0%
For tea ware
China origins: 18.2%
Japan origins: 10.7%
You will see the tariff charge in the Cart and the Checkout pages. It will be paid for at checkout. We are required to work with the shipping agent to process it on your behalf, so you just receive the order package as before.
We shall do our best to offer discounts to offset this added cost for you. However, all our old customers know that our markups are very tight already for the quality we deliver. This is perhaps the most important reason why we have customers from Europe some of whom have to be paying as much as 25% tax for our products.
In the rapidly changing economic and political environment today, it is understandable why some financial burdens can be shifted towards the people. We shall devise ways to share this added budget for you so you don’t have to go back to those lesser quality teas and teapots.
A summer sale is going on already, so go ahead and make the most of the discounts. It is that liberating and comforting sip that we are all about after all, so keep steeping, and be happy.
